RECON ON CAMPUS
///// PURPOSE ON CAMPUS
Student Veterans face unique challenges in transition, because they typically transition twice—from military to college and then into a career. Therefore, it’s crucial that they understand how to transition in purpose and plan a successful future.
Student Veterans are our future, and their management of dual transition periods makes them unique to the transition discussion. For this reason, RECON offers educators, colleges and universities the opportunity to bring RECON events directly to the student…right on campus.
Why RECON? Because purpose is a big deal, and it has long-term ramifications.
- Veterans are more likely to graduate college than their peers, and maintain a higher GPA, on average, but still face issues with hiring and corporate retention (Student Veterans of America)
- 79% of Millennials say it’s more important to enjoy their job than to make money. *most student veterans today are Millennials
- 44% of veterans will leave their first job after transition within one year due to mis-placement, “bad fit” or low engagement. (Hiring our Heroes)
- According to a study produced by researchers at the University of Texas, Stanford University, and the University of Pennsylvania, students with purpose learn better, persist longer through harder topics and are more engaged when they have a “self-transcendent purpose” guiding them.
The evidence is there: when you bring purpose to your veterans on campus, you can better engage them to achieve more—before and after graduation—and through our online program or our localized, school-specific events, The RECON Network is here to help do just that.
